The multichannel television services area continues to consolidate as AT&T has agreed to purchase DBS service DirecTV. The deal has not been approved as of January 2015.
The MVPD industry continues to see subscribers drop the service in 2015. One of the reasons for the decline is the available of content via the Internet. Even premium channel content will be available via the Internet without having to subscribe to the channel via a multichannel television provider. The popular HBO Go service will be available to those without a traditional subscription in Spring 2015.
